Painting steps

I am painting a desert scene complete with bighorn sheep family. I have photos of different stages. First I buy pretreated gesso canvas then I coated all canvas with orange paint. I start with the sky and work top down.

The I blocked in the mountains. I use a pallet knife and lay it in. I just think of mountains and let my arm do its thing. It releases my creativity.

Then I decided to and a big horn sheep.

I added more detail and I knew I needed more so I added a family of sheep.

I continued to add more paint. I change the background by adding lighter colors and fading the backdrop a bit into the distance

It was too overwhelming burnt sienna. So I added more purple and lighter color. Now I am close to finish

This is the final version I am leaving it as it is.
